HBL looks towards massive restructuring of its networks and hardware

Standard

HBL has recently issued an RFP/tender for their massive hardware/network restructuring project. Involving everything from unix hardware to networking monitoring tools and several services related to these components, this is probably one of the largest restructuring done to HBL’s networks. IBM, HP and other principals are in the process of bidding for the project, along with Cisco for the networking components. My best is on IBM given that HBL and IBM have a very close relationship.

Also, as a sidenote, KASB recently selected the MiSys core banking system, which is being delivered with IBM’s blessings, through one of its integration partners, Si3. (MiSYs is a green screen application at the core…and one which i think is obsolete, they should have gone with something like Symbols that MCB has! who runs a green screen/rpg app in today’s world!!! go for a enterprise java app..with a webfront…like everyone else in the banking sector worldwide! and run it on unix..not the iSeries OS/5 !! anyway…). IBM traditionally has had a strong hold over the majority of the financial services market in Pakistan.
